Git hooks

Two optional hooks that write commit messages from the staged diff. No editor involved.

What it adds

Two optional hooks that write commit messages from the staged diff. No editor involved.

Install the CLI first

No integration bundles the CLI — each one shells out to it. If lk is not installed and signed in, the integration installs cleanly and then does nothing, which is a confusing way to fail.
pip install local-keep-ai-cli
lk login

Install Git hooks

lk hooks install adds prepare-commit-msg to the current repo
lk hooks install --global installs into your git template directory

Using it

git commit — the message is pre-filled from the staged diff; edit or accept it
lk hooks uninstall to remove them

Worth knowing

The hook only reads the STAGED diff. An empty message usually means nothing is staged, not that the hook failed.
The CLI in depth

Every integration drives this same CLI, so what you see here is what Git hooks is doing underneath.
